Promo Mailer

Been busy recently designing and putting together a promo to send out to creatives.

Included in the mailer are:

A pack of postcards with some personal and some Ad work.

A greetings card that can be used however they please.

Hand cut leaves made out of seeded paper that will grow into wildflowers when planted.

A vegan chocolate flapjack.

A personal note on hand aged paper.

All contained in a branded box.

This was really fun to do and hope to do some more in the future. Hope everyone who received one enjoyed what's inside!

Merry Christmas!

Created this magical Christmas image, shot part on location and part in the studio. Hope it gets you in the festive mood!

You can also download it as a desktop wallpaper here, Christmas Wallpaper

More Awards

The Trees for Cities campaign continues to go down a storm, receiving a gold and two silvers at this years Cream Awards.

Really pleased that my Trees for Cities campaign for Big Communications was recently awarded a Bronze and a Silver at the Fresh Awards. In the Best Photography/ Art Direction and Best Charity Ad respectively.

They are also featured in the latest issue of Luerzer's Archive Magazine.

Milky Way

Here are a couple of images shot on a recent trip to Crete. I've never seen stars like it, an awesome sight.

“The Cosmos is all that is or was or ever will be. Our feeblest contemplations of the Cosmos stir us -- there is a tingling in the spine, a catch in the voice, a faint sensation, as if a distant memory, of falling from a height. We know we are approaching the greatest of mysteries.”
Carl Sagan.

The Orangutans

This is a project I have recently finished called 'The Orangutans'.

Orangutans are widely found in british zoos. Although they are well looked after I always get a pang of guilt upon seeing them in this environment.
With this series I wanted to re-imagine their surroundings, placing them in a setting that seems idealistic and slightly magical, giving the images a completely different context.

Here is a little sneak into the process of how one of them was made.

Sugar Skull

Here is a pic that didn't make the cut, created a few months back but not really feeling the end result.

Starry Seascape

Took this whilst in Cape Verde, looking out west from the coast of Boa Vista...

Made from 'stacking' 10 separate images of the same scene to help reduce noise, although its still pretty noisy. I love the milky sea in contrast to the bottom of the Milky Way!

Mr Coopers House and Garden.

I was recently commissioned by the the brilliant Ahoy to create a series of large scale images for a restaurant called 'Mr Coopers House and Garden' opening in the beautiful Midland Hotel in Manchester.
The whole concept behind the restaurant is brilliant, ran by the amazing chef Simon Rogan.

"Mr Cooper’s House & Garden combines modern touches with the history and heritage of Mr Cooper himself, whose house and famous gardens sat on the site back in 1819.
Thomas Cooper was a popular figure in Manchester. The family were coach-makers by trade and their garden on the site of The Midland was famous for its strawberries, gooseberries, apples and flowers. On special days of the year, The Coopers would welcome the public in to stroll the gardens and picnic there.
Cooper Street, the short street across St Peter's Square on the other side of Princess Street, used to extend as far back as The Midland and was named after the family.
A multitude of different dining settings under one roof, Mr Cooper’s offers a unique setting for everyone. Lounge in the garden amongst the cascading wall of plants and 30ft tree, enjoy drinks in the Library or cosy up next to friends in the leather booths of the study."

Here are the images!

It was an amazing project to work on, and having been to the opening event just last night I can say that its a truly unique place with fantastic food and cocktails!

My images have been beautifully presented and its almost like I have a permanent exhibition in the restaurant, here are a few pics from the opening night...

Paper Paper Paper.

So this week I have been making pictures out of paper and animating them. Part Photography as the paper all needed to be digitally captured, and part illustration.

Here are the still images followed by their animated counterparts! I really enjoyed getting crafty with paper!
